a stratosphere & climate research station. Its elevation,
distance from land and air quality makes it an ideal spot to
study air quality, ozone and atmospheric carbon dioxide levels.
The data gathered here has been instrumental in tracking global
climate change.
Mauna Loa is still considered
an active volcano and last erupted in 1984. |
